Steel AISI-8620

Other innovative technologies for processing of steels, such as combined rapid carburizing and heat treatment of AISI 8620 steel LINCARBOHEAT-8620 technology was also developed by SANOVA. Application of this robust technology yields impressive results on components manufactured from steel AISI 8620 and other similar steels. LINCARBOHEAT-8620 treatment with approximate duration of 45 minutes is capable of creating surface layer with effective thickness in ranges of 2.2-2.3 mm and surface hardness of 63-67 HRC. Average amount of retained austenite in case microstructure ranges from 15 to 25%. There are no network carbides or decarburization of the component surface. Case structures contain fine-grained martensite and ferrite and core structures contain fine-grained austenite and perlite. Grain size is small - 10 or less. Core hardness is in range of 25-45 HRC. Results of new LINCARBOHEAT-8620 technology are presented in figure below:
